4000 Adventure in the Alps


Characteristics
An itinerary, tried out and appreciated by many of our friends, that in a week allows you to learn the basic mountaineering skills, progression on the glacier and the new safety systems; whilst the enthusiasm grows, we start the ascent to Gran Paradiso (4061mt), Punta Gnifetti, where we will visit the highest refuge of Europe Capanna Margherita (4554 mt), and finally Monte Bianco (4807 mt.) which dominates the entire Aosta Valley (Italy) and the Valley of Arve (France).

Itinerary
The itinerary here below is just a guide-line: in case of bad weather variations can be made and everything will be agreed upon the participants.

  • 1st day: meeting at 9 a.m. in Valsavarenche and departure for Rifugio Chabod. In the afternoon: exercises using ropes and safety techniques. Dinner and overnight stay at the hut.
  • 2nd Day: practice with of ice-axe and crampons on the glacier - packed lunch - dinner and overnight stay at the hut.
  • 3rd Day: we will start early in the morning to ascent to Gran Paradiso. The descent will be done on the other side and we will arrive at RifugioVittorio Emanuele for lunch time; in the afternoon we will walk down the valley and transfer into a hotel or private lodgings (upon your preferences).
  • 4th Day: transfer to Gressoney la Trinité where we will take the cable-car up to Punta Indren - walk to the Rifugio Cittΰ di Mantova for dinner and overnight stay.
  • 5th Day: ascent to Punta Gnifetti (4559mt) with a light lunch at Capanna Margherita – in the afternoon we descend the valley and we will transfer to a hotel or private lodgings.
  • 6th Day: transfer to Chamonix, where we will take the cable-car up to Aiguille du Midi. It will take us a 20 minutes walk to reach the Refuge des Cosmiques. Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge.
  • 7th Day: ascent to Monte Bianco by the “des trois Mont Blanc” route, then descent to the valley.

Ability
Medium level mountaineers or hikers – as the week progresses the level will become gradually more difficult, in the aim to be prepared for the final ascent of Monte Bianco.

Equipment
Crampons – iceaxe – 2 pairs of socks – thin long johns – mountain trousers or cotton salopettes – 2 short sleeved T shirts – shirt – woolen sweater or pile – quilted or lined waterproof jacket plus a wind jacket – waterproof, windproof trousers – balaclava – headband – peak cap – gloves and mittens – shoes suitable for crampons – good sunglasses for protection at high altitude – face and lip sun protection cream (min. protection factor 8) – camera – head lamp.
If still available, the guide can supply any technical equipment required.

Group size
Maximum 4 people per Mountain Guide (if there are more than two people in the group, the price includes the assistance of two mountain guides for climbing Monte Bianco, so to improve safety conditions for everybody).

Period

7 days and 6 nights.

Prices available on demand

The price includes:
  • assistance of Alpine Guide;
  • use of group equipment (ropes,bolts and carabiners).

The price does not include:
  • mountain huts half board service: €45 per person Rifugio Chabod (cost only for clients), €70 per person Rifugio Cittΰ di Mantova (cost for clients + guide), €65 per person Refuge des Cosmiques (cost for clients + guide);
  • accomodation in hotels;
  • cable-car tickets: €40 per person from Staffal to Punta Indren, round-trip (cost only for clients); €58,50 per person from Chamonix to Aiguille du Midi, round trip (cost for clients + the guide);
  • all transfer expenses for driving to Valsavarenche, Gressoney and Chamonix;
  • technical equipment rental (harness, crampons and ice-axe);
  • insurance;
  • everything that is not mentioned in "the price includes".
